I think numbness is common after any surgery. I had surgery on my back for scoliosis correction and I experienced numbness for a while afterward. If it is really bothering you you should seek a second opinion to see if there is a more significant problem. Especially since there is some drooping, you want to make sure there isn’t any nerve damage. Good luck
Even a “top New York City Doctor” can make a mistake. You should not still have numbness after two years! Sounds to me like the surgeon probably (although it may have been purely accidental) damaged vital nerves during the procedure. Unfortunately, as you probably agreed to when you signed a consent form, there are risks associated with any surgery and the numbness and drooping may be permanent; you also may not have any recourse in terms of suing for damages. At the very least, you should seek an opinion from another plastic surgeon.
I am a plastic surgeon in Houston and can tell you that numbness and a drooping lip two years after surgery is a problem. I would have the cheek implants removed- that MIGHT solve your problem. They may be compressing your nerves and interfering with the muscles that elevate your lip. Unfortunately, it has been two years, and you may have scaring of your nerves/muscles that may be permanent.
Bottom line, remove the implants, and hope for the best. Removing the cheek implants should be a quick office procedure under local anesthesia.
good luck
