Serious Christian question- What’s you opinion on Cosmetic surgery?

I’m аח atheist, аחԁ іt’s legal, ѕο I wаѕ wondering уουr opinions οח tһе morality οf cosmetic surgery. It didn’t exist back іח Jesus’s time, bυt іѕ іt a sin tο һаνе уουr nose reconstructed οr һаνе уου lips injected wіtһ collagen, οr һаνе a boob/penis enlargement surgery?

Aחԁ don’t ѕау tһаt уου ѕһουƖԁ bе һарру tһе way god mаԁе уου, bесаυѕе bу tһаt logic tһеrе іѕ nothing wrοחɡ wіtһ gays. (Btw, homosexuality іѕ a реrfесtƖу fine thing.)

I dont have too much of a problem with it from a religious standpoint.

However, from a sociological and psychological standpoint I think it can sometimes send the wrong message in our society about what is beautiful and that people can take it too far.

  • Ready to Go Home!:

I disagree with cosmetic surgery, unless used to curve possible life threatening conditions, and I don’t need to be Christian to say that!

  • PROBLEM JPAS A.R.T.:

I see no problem with it until people go nuts and end up looking like a plastic manikin.

I think it is just one more way for a person to spend their time and their resources on something that God is not concerned about.

Like everything in the hands of man, it can be used for good or evil.

I love the idea of cosmetic surgery being used to correct deformities such as cleft palettes.

But to use it in a futile attempt to stave off aging is a waste and a pitiful vanity.

    Hope that helps.

Why reconstruct what God has made? I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

  • Calvin:

Cosmetic surgery is not a question for religion, unless it is to deform oneself into something unnatural.

That is a personal issue. I would have to say burn victims and people born with deformities often have their lives made much easier from such. In that regard it is obviously a very good thing.

The issue of homosexuality is another matter of course having nothing whatsoever to do with cosmetic surgery.

seems like it could indicate that you don’t appreciate that God appreciates / values you as a person on the inside and that you want recognition from people rather than be content in Christ.

and now I’m going to wreck the chance that this answer will be chosen as the best by stating that homosexuality is NOT a perfectly fine thing. It contradicts natural law and more importantly the Bible.

However, all men are sinful and some struggle with different sins. Just as one may struggle with lust, (which is not sin) compared to voluntarily and actively lusting (which is a sin and can be stopped if the person chooses not to) So to is homosexuality, one can struggle with homosexual tendencies (not a sin) but sin when they actively pursue homosexual acts (prolonged thoughts or any actions).

  • John K:

As a Christian I’ll base my answer on what I’ve read in the Bible. I don’t recall anything saying that God is against cosmetic surgery. On the other hand, I do recall reading that God is against homosexual sex acts. So I don’t agree that homosexuality is a perfectly fine thing in God’s view.

  • it can't rain all the time:

i believe people should be happy with themselves the way they are……… the way they are makes them, “them” and special like no one else………. anyone could become a “plastic” person…. eventually we would all be alike…..
from a religious stand point…… i believe it is a slap in the face to our creator “God”….

  • Regina (SOC):

As a Christian I like to look nice with what I already have. And when I think of things like cosmetic surgery I ask myself, ‘why not be content with what you have?’ That pretty well sums up my current focus on life, ie: to be content with what I have.

  • cijo m:

I think it should be left to one’s choice. I think it is not a matter of orthodox christian belief. It must be based on one’s self opinion. God is not going to be concerned of our skin, we should be concerned about that.
